A Message for Israel
Matthew 24:4-7 (KJV) And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
Jesus was candid with the believers in Israel about events to come, mincing no words about the future. This message is for them and us today. There are indeed many deceivers at work among the podiums today. A man can stand and profess to know and to serve God. However, his fruits will tell the real story of who he serves as he sojourns in this world.
Though Jesus gave this message to ancient Jewish believers, we can also receive it and apply it to our lives today. Each of us must discern what truth is and which messages derive from wolves in sheep’s clothing. In other words, not all that a person hears from a pulpit is from God, and all events God speaks of will come to pass, but we are not to get caught up in the world’s circumstances.
God has a message for each of us, and it is found in God’s Word. Therefore, the more familiar a person is with God’s Word, the more he can discern false teachings from the truth of God, whether it be hyperbole in a pulpit, adverse circumstances, and events, chatter on the news, the radio, or television, God’s truth is known to His spiritual children.
This message God gave Israel in ancient times is also crucial for every child of God to know and apply to their lives today. God’s Word contains messages that never go out of style or change with the times. Therefore, the future God talks about concerning deceivers and liars is relevant today. Events will take place, and liars will spew lies, but none of that changes God’s plan for the future.
