🦊 Sufficient are the Troubles of the Day

There’s a trend I see with some believers that I worry about, and it is common in a lot of people I know, so don’t think I am writing to one person specifically in a veiled way. The struggle to trust God in everything is a constant battle for any believer.

What bothers me though, and is not a condemnation, but a worry, is in how some run back to alarmist articles and fear blogs so often.

Some think I am naïve, or foolish, in putting off the chasing of this and that worry porn all over the internet.

Good Lord, I have enough to worry about in my own personal life and my circle of influence in the present day.

I have no time nor desire to worry about the world or the “What if’s” of tomorrow.

I know what’s coming, I know I can’t change it, and my calling is something much simpler and light burdened by the One.

The Gospel.

This is what I am supposed to worry about, and what to spend my time and energy on.

So, if I seem to ignore y’all, or seem to not consider your voice important, it’s the farthest from the truth. I simply will not regard the world as important.

The Truth is and only is Jesus the Christ. He is my focus, day by day…

Matthew 6:34

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today has enough trouble of its own.

I agree 100% in the end non of it matters, from lizard spit in a drug that may or not kill ya, to who slapped who on TV. Non of it matters and I too do not care.

I fully agree with both of you. I am so sick of what @JackN calls

worry porn all over the internet.

God’s word tells us everything we have to know. We don’t need to know those things that @Matthew82 shared.

Even if we know all the truth of what the ‘powers that be’ are doing, how is that going to help us in any way?
We can’t change it and we can’t do anything about it.
God has His plan and there is nothing anyone can do to stop it.

So if it seems I ignore some on the forum or don’t comment on a lot of threads, it isn’t anything personal.

I have enough of my own problems and family problems to take care of. Even there, I struggle constantly with the ‘what ifs’ in my own life and I am learning to let them go and give them over to God. I can’t be adding to them by watching all these other things.

Just my two cents worth.

Amen and that worry does no good but make one worry more. Being prepared for shortages is something different and I do that. my husband thinks I am nuts. He will see.
However, we cannot change one single thing that is part of God’s plan to happen; only trust Him. He does not plan to hurt His Bride.
These things must happen according to His plans. Remember, His plans are not to hurt you. They were written 2000 years ago and what He had John write IS going to happen. He is our God and His ways are not our ways; but His ways are perfect.

I have no time nor desire to worry about the world or the “What if’s” of tomorrow…I know what’s coming, I know I can’t change it…

Doris Day sung it best, ‘Que Sera Sera…whatever will be WILL BE.’ His Word said it best, ‘that these things must happen.’ It’s past time to face the spiritual facts and accept the harsh realities. It’s a relief to trust Him, occupy and pray for endurance till sweet Jesus comes for His bride.

In other words, it’s like being on a semi…downhill…and the brakes have just failed. There ain’t no stopping it but it gets us to Jesus.
Mo’ better :raised_hands:!

I agree too. The big picture things can be exciting on how it is lining it up with the Bible. But we are being bombarded with information, we are in a sea of information and it affects my joy. I am prone to worry and can become anxious, and in the end there is nothing I can do to change this. I have my sphere of influence and my family I am not being a good witness for Christ if I am being weighed down.

Ahhh you have hit upon an important truth. Yes there are so many fear porn places on the net with constant tales of problems that are coming, the reset, another round of lock downs, food shortages, etc. Sure looks like the work of the enemy how ever subtle that it is to keep the Christian in a constant state of fear. And fear is dibilitating to the point of inaction which serves no one but the enemy who is full of problematic action.

" I have enough to worry about in my own personal life and my circle of influence in the present day."

Agreed, and I think this can be said for all of us; I find it to be enough of a challenge.

It’s not just “worry porn”/ “fear porn” … it’s all the other seemingly innocuous BS that we are told is important. There is so much out there vying for our attention, and trying to distract us, and I think if we allow ourselves to be sucked into the vortex of the present culture, we will not only take our eyes off Jesus, we will also become susceptible to the deceptions out there.
Thanks for the reminder.

“it affects my joy”

Well said- and it also robs us of our peace.

I agree Jack - it is the work of the enemy. I have spoken with several solid Christians and they have all agreed - it seems to be harder now to concentrate in prayer, some days they have to force themselves to get in the Bible, some are falling back into bad habits, etc. I am fighting the same battles.
So if any if you are, just know that you are not alone ( one of the enemy’s go-to tactics to discourage us is to try and isolate us- don’t fall for it ).
I think it is harder now to remain faithful than it has been for a long time, and we know that this is because Evil is ramping up it’s assault- the whole world has never been as wicked as it is now.
But we also know the end of the story - God wins- so we have to just bear down and persevere until Christ returns to take us out of this cesspool of evil…soon!

Thanks to all for sharing, I’m glad I’m not alone feeling this way.

I’ve been thinking about Abraham lately and his response after pleading for Sodom in Genesis 18. When finished questioning the Lord on sparing Sodom for as few as 10 people, he didn’t rush there to try desperately to convert 10+ people. When the Lord had finished speaking with Abraham, he left, and Abraham returned home.

He didn’t lose his head in worry over the coming judgement. The Lord made his plan for Sodom clear so Abraham returned home. I suspect he was probably thinking about what the Lord had already instructed him right before discussing Sodom, and if Sarah was going to have a son by that time next year, well…Abraham had other pressing things to attend to… :smirk:

I know God has recently been prompting me to “Finish strong”, but the specific race He has set before me, not someone else’s (rat) race.

Thank you Jack, you said what has been in my heart for some time.
If I see one more, "look what satan’s doing now, Rumble videos, to tell me we are in the end times, I will explode.
All I need to do is open the “news” for one minute scan the page for 30 seconds, and it screams we are in the end times.
As you stated, "The Gospel. This is what I am supposed to worry about, and what to spend my time and energy on."

Gal 6: 14 " But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world."

Warmly Doc :dove:

Amen. We need to be encouragers; not letting everything going on around us bring us to doubt and fear. Yes, it is a daily struggle because for me, I let the fear mongers’ into my life (news/YouTube) and I need to be stronger; focusing on Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” (KJV)
Thank you for that stern, but loving rebuke. I take full responsibility for my behavior…most of the time, LOL.

Ok that was funny @Matthew82 :joy:
Seriously though , I agree with @JackN. There is so much available dare I call it information ???but it’s not all true or healthy information.
We certainly need to be informed enough but we don’t want to drown or be weighed down by every available article, video, opinion or theory that seems to be out there…. Caring too much to the point of confusion, fear and panic :-1:
On the flip side there are pertinent things occurring but many’s attention is being diverted by the “ slap heard round the world” and the court case “ also HEARD… aka Amber and pirate John Boy around the world …… shouldn’t care at all.
